OMFG! I just watched FOX2 News at 10 and it seems girls are entering puberty at age six and scientists and parents are worried the girls are not ready for the changes in their hormones and in their bodies! One parent said 'No I don't think the girls are ready for puberty at age six! They're terrified and they don't understand the changes that are going on in their bodies and in their hormones! They're scared!' Well let me flash back to second grade, I was six years old,my breast buds had started developing,I was well aware and comfortable with the changes that were happening in my body and with my hormones.

Not only was I developing breasts, but I noticed that my school jumper wasn't falling in a straight line like it had the year before, the top was starting to follow my newly forming curves and the front of my Jumper and Sailor Collared Blouse were starting to poke out on top of all this my period had started. Was my mom scared, upset, worried or horrified? Nope! She had sat us girls down and walked us through what to expect during our journey through puberty and into young womanhood and into womanhood.

Typical questions us girls asked were 'What's a period?' mom's answer 'A period is a short time in your life when an unfertilized egg travels for 28 days from your ovary down the fallopian tube and into your uterus where if it's not met by sperm it comes out your vagina in the form of menstrual blood. Your period can last anywhere from three to seven days and you may or may not feel cramping, bloating, moodiness or irritability. Each girl is different,as is each cycle. If you wish you can use tampons provided you put them in right you'll never know it's inside you but always remember to take it out and replace it and at night wear a pad that is designed for nighttime flows. Always remember to take an extra pair of panties with you just in case you have a menstrual accident.'

WHY do we need a period mom?' Mom's answer? 'A period is a sign that you're baby making organs are working. Even though you may have your period, don't believe what your teachers say! It does NOT mean you can instantly get pregnant! Many thing could be wrong even though you have your cycle! That's why I have set up an appointment for you girls to meet your very first Gynecologist who will better answer any and all questions you have better then I can.' Sure enough the next day during the extended lunch recess, mom took us to meet our very first Gynecologist who was really nice, warm, friendly and very informative. She dismissed allot of what we had written in our Health Notebooks as 'Old Wives Tales and nothing more.'

Why are parents today so freaked out about their daughters being early bloomers entering puberty at age six?! So what?! They probably entered puberty early as well but have shoved it so far back in their minds that when they're asked if they entered puberty early they say 'Of course not! I started puberty at age ten! By age eleven I had my period! By age thirteen I had my period!'
